A tribute to our dear friend and colleague Dan Kinsella from all at Wemoto

May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back

It is with deep sadness that we remember our dear friend and colleague Dan Kinsella, 25, who worked at Wemoto for over four years and in that time became a much loved and valued member of staff and friend. He was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on the A259 at Portslade on his way to work.

Tributes have come pouring in from his team and everyone who knew him at Wemoto, where he worked in our sales office. He was really happy in his job and loved it, all his workmates say he was amazing to work with and brilliant with the customers. Dan was very knowledgeable about bikes, plus having a really friendly endearing manner and quickly developed excellent rapport with the customers so that they would call and ask for him personally – he is still getting emails from customers now.

Not only great at work, in the office and with customers and suppliers, Dan was also there for the nights out and there were many mad ones with friends from work, he really enjoyed a drink and knew how to have a good time.
Dan loved everything about motorcycles and had literally just got his full licence in January and bought a CB650R. Dan’s affinity with bikes was no surprise, he came from a great motorcycling family, both his Mum and Dad ride bikes and he was a member of quite a few bike groups too, as well as spending all day ‘talking bike’ at work at Wemoto.

Here’s what one of his colleagues, Charlotte, said about him:
“We all got on so well in this office, like a massive family. It has left the biggest hole in this office and I don't think it will ever be the same.
He was the most kind hearted person, probably one of the best I've ever met. If you ever needed anything, no matter the time or day, you knew he would always be there for you.
I just couldn't say a bad word about him, friend wise or work wise.
Although he did like being late sometimes :-P”

His friend Tom added:
“Dan was a good friend to EVERYONE at Wemoto it was impossible to dislike anything about his endearing personality even his dark sense of humour was loved by all, we have not only lost a colleague but a best friend and a brother, a crucial part of our company.
Many of us are now using the phrase ‘Do it for Dan’ in our minds whenever we do anything fun or wild, he will truly never be forgotten’.

Dan’s friends organised a fundraiser and motorcycle rideout which raised a lot towards the cost of the funeral. Dan’s funeral was held on Friday 22nd of April and there was a huge turn out, showing just how loved and respected he was by all - family, friends and colleagues alike.

Wemoto was closed for the afternoon so that his friends from the company could pay their respects to Dan and his family.

Over 150 motorcycles accompanied Dan's hearse from his home by Preston Park to Worthing Crematorium, all revving as they passed his parents house in a moving tribute. His casket was mounted on a sidecar with his fiancee Eden riding Pillion with him on his last ride. Riders and bikes were bedecked in Dan’s favourite colours, black red and purple with ribbons in those colours streaming from the bikes. It was a truly amazing sight as the convoy of bikes followed the hearse and the police kindly provided an escort all the way, closing the roads on the route.

Once the procession reached Worthing crematorium, Dan’s casket was crowd surfed inside by all his friends and family – just as he would have wanted – passed from friend to family to friend all the way.

The service was deeply moving with tributes from his parents and Eden, plus words from his school friends, really unique and special, just like Dan. When all the words had all been spoken, Dan had the last word with the Celebrant ended the service in Dan’s words...
‘F***g send it!’

Rest in Peace Dan, from all your friends at Wemoto.
