Well a Bio Diesel powered Royal Enfield Robin  – hmm that does qualify as interesting we think.

A Norwich man named Richard swung by on Wednesday on a thunderous and chippy motorcycle.  He was on a round the country coastal trip on the bike which he had borrowed from the Norfolk motorcycle museum and was doing it as ‘greenly’ as he could by using recycled chip oil! Nice one.

Richard hails from Norwich originally but had lived in New Zealand for 10 years – as you can imagine he had a great New Zealand/Norfok accent and the fine pedigree of having been a successful Alpaca farmer amongst other things in New Zealand – cool! He had also worked for NZRT12 the New Zealand urban search and rescue service, helping to rescue people from the earthquakes among other things. He has many strings to his bow as an ex Royal marine, a member of the Royal British Legion Riders Branch, and a member of the Red Cross. Obviously an interesting character!
During his time in NZRT12 he fell and hurt his arm and back while rescuing people, so he came back to the UK. Once back though he found it difficult to get back on an even keel, so he decided to set off on this great motorcycle, have an adventure and do something useful by raising awareness of, and money for the two charities - The Royal British Legion and the Red Cross - on his Great British Fish & Chip Run.

He says he is celebrating 150 years of fish and chips and 120 years of the motorcycle with this trip – can’t say fairer than that really can you – two great things indeed!  He is getting bargain fish and chips everywhere he goes he says when the chippies learn how he is powering his motorcycle – he’s not having so much luck with finding free or cheap places to sleep and is often camping at night (getting a bit chilly!), however he seemed undaunted as he set off west for Worthing.







His bike has two big cans of bio diesel on the back and it can do 200 mpg. He thinks he has enough for about 2000 miles – the only problem being that he says the bio diesel does have a tendency to clog up when the weather gets cooler.  
The eight and a half horsepower engine takes him along at about 40mph – plenty fast enough to admire the scenery and keep up with the traffic – actually the traffic doesn't move much between here and Worthing on the A27 in the rush hour, certainly better off on a motorcycle!
It is really nice to meet someone who is doing something different and original – we are perfectly placed here at Wemoto on the South coast road between Brighton and Worthing, so we are lucky to see round the country motorcyclists from time to time.
