The first details about the Aprilia Tuareg 600 have emerged on the Aprilia website and it looks like it'll be ready to spring into the limelight later in the year. Some of the tech details of the new Tuareg are also being hinted at to wet the appetites of the motorcycling public in anticipation.

This real challenger to the Yamaha Tenere 700, has been described as 'Aprilia's most advanced riding concept to date'. The Aprilia Tuareg 659cc twin claims 80hp with 52lbft of torque and offers 240mm ground clearance with a 1500mm wheelbase and 860mm seat height.

The electronics – all important these days - comprise of four riding modes, two of which are programmable and one off road setting. There is also, as you would expect, traction control, cruise control and engine brake control, all accessed from a TFT dashboard for ease of use.

The new Tuareg has a tubular steel frame which the engine is bolted to and alloy sections for the swingarm pivot, 43mm USD forks and Brembo switchable ABS brakes which give the back, or both wheels, the ability to switch off the anti-lock function.

This bike looks to be light but tough, with Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) giving it a sporty feel and making it all-terrain capable. There's no release date for the Tuareg yet, but keep an eye on the website for that if you’re interested.
