Bike 1066 and all that Hastings Spring motorcycle

May Day in Hastings and about 30,000 motorcycles and Wemoto headed down for the first good run of the season and the sun was shining!

Bank Holiday Monday morning and Hastings was gearing up bright and early for it's 35th anniversary bike 1066 Spring Opener!

This is a great free motorcycle event which evolved spontaneously thirty five years ago and has been growing ever since, now attracting record numbers of motorcyclists.

This year the weather forecast was for sunshine - the hottest day of the year was promised in fact, although after the winter we have had that wouldn't be hard! The day was all set to be a record breaker! Jack In the Green traditional May Day event was also taking place in Hastings so mixed amongst the leather clad and helmet carrying folk were quite a few green faces, ivied hats and ankle bells - just the usual English bank holiday mixture and everyone in a very good mood!

The morning started off with the traditional south coast sea Fret (mist) over the seafront, but this just made it more atmospheric as huge herds of motorcycles of every shape, size and colour roared in out of the mist to park up in the luckily huge car park. The mist soon burnt off to reveal a fantastic spring day - what every motorcyclist has been dreaming of through the long cold winter! It seemed like everyone within range had decided to come out of hibernation and enjoy the delights of a good warm sunny ride down to the South Coast.

Wemoto was there with our bright yellow stand, we had a brilliant day.

Here are some photos of the day ... quite a lot of photos actually but there were quite a lot of motorcycles ... apparently over 30,000 people were in Hastings yesterday!
