'Down in Utah, the guys and I dig a city called Salt Lake'

Problems with the salt cause cancellation of Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials...!

... right now rain has stopped play!

We think we are in control of everything these days but the weather is still a law unto itself! Heavy rain has been falling in Salt Lake City, Utah to the detriment of the usually smooth dry Salt Flats Mountain Course normally used for the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials. Now, far from being the ideal surface for miles of uninterrupted speed, the salt course is sodden with about half an inch of water and is deemed 'impossible' to ride on. Added to this the course surface was damaged by the huge traffic generated by the trials last year and the salt has not healed over properly since then. With an anticipated 300 motorcycles due to arrive for race week – the course is not considered to be up to the job this year.

'Salt Lake City, we'll be coming soon.

So the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trial officials, unable to find a replacement course on the salt flats which has not also been affected by adverse weather conditions, has had to pull the whole 2015 event until next year, when hopefully, conditions will be better and the salt will have returned to its sparkly, speedy self.

This may not be all bad news for the Triumph Land Speed Record team who have had to postpone Guy Martin's attempt at the land speed record anyway, after his crash in the Ulster GP. Hopefully the whole event, and Guy, just need a breather and next year will be back on form and ready to salt away some real speed!
