Handy and Helpful

If you frequently, or even occasionally, work on your motorcycle and do those repairs or maintenance jobs which come up with monotonous regularity - here are a few ideas to help you, which won't make a significant hole in your pocket. They are all generic things so you can use them on any motorcycle whatever the make or model, but you will find that they help exponentially with the job you are doing:

1 Latex Gloves
Latex Gloves - what on earth - yes indeed, worth their weight in gold! They are available from Wemoto  and are an absolute godsend to wear when you are doing any job on your motorcycle - particularly anything oily - which let's face it is pretty much everything. You can keep a box at home, or in your garage if you have one and if you put some on before starting work on your bike, they will keep your fingers dirt free but not impede your ability to do up nuts or anything fiddly you want to do, as they are so thin. It's a good idea to carry a couple of pairs on your bike when you are out, in case you need to tighten something or fix anything while you are travelling. Pop the gloves on and do what you need to do, then take them off and carry on your way without the usual age of scrubbing to try and get your hands clean and operational again! A simple solution to hand cleaning which will save you time and doesn't cost much at all.

2 Magnetic Parts Dishes and Trays
Magnetic Parts Dishes or Parts Trays, these bring an end to chasing those rolling nuts, bolts and other iron or iron-based motorcycle parts around your garage or workshop floor. The dish or tray works by having strong magnets on the base which not only keep the parts safely fixed to the tray once you have dropped them in, but also ensures that the tray is firmly fixed to a metal shelf or work bench. The integral magnets also make it much more difficult to knock the magnetic tray off a metal shelf, letting all the nuts and bolts go flying. If you don't have a metal shelf to put it on, don't worry it has a rubberised base which will protect any surface you put it on and give it some grip even if it is not magnetised. The dish and tray are both really inexpensive to buy, but will make a huge difference and help you keep the small parts you have taken off your bike safe and where you need them to be when it's time to put them back in place.

3 Syringes
A Syringe is a very useful little tool for getting liquids into those inaccessible places and making sure that you are putting the right amount in. To make this even easier you can also get a bit of tubing to give yourself a longer reach. Syringes are great for doing your fork oil or for topping up brake fluid and are really reasonably priced.

These three suggestions are just a few of the economical ideas on the Wemoto website to help you out for only a small cash outlay and would even make great stocking fillers for your motorcycling friends :)
