Take me home, country roads
Now that we can get out there again and the weather is excellent for motorcycling, do you have any rides on favourite roads to share, or any you hate?
John Newman
Paradise Road
We all have those roads that we just love. The roads which seem to have your back, the bends are just the right level of challenge and delight, the traffic flow on these roads is ideal, or the view is so fantastic that you don't care if there's a traffic jam, something about them just makes you happy to ride on them. Better to travel hopefully than to arrive indeed!
Here are a couple of great ones, so good that John wrote about them; the
B6318 beginning just west of Newcastle Upon Tyne at Heddon on the Wall and the
B1257 out of Helmsley to Stokesley on the northern edge of the moors – as John says, ten miles of skill challenging road. Do you have any particular favourites like that? Or do you have a fantastic commute perhaps, or somewhere you just love to ride out to at the weekends?
Highway To Hell...
On the flip side, do you have any roads which you detest? You know those roads which are always a nightmare, just plain joyless, riddled with potholes, just out to get you! Mine's the M4, sorry to all those who love it, it just seems to have some gremlins for me, living somewhere there out by Chieveley Services…fanciful perhaps, what do you think?
