Triumph is roaring again at EICMA with new Tigers

A special edition Thunderbird and a limited edition Rocket

Triumph Motorcycles is unveiling their range of new additions to the Tiger family, as well as special editions of the Thunderbird Nightstorm and Rocket X. The new bikes are being revealed at this year’s EICMA bike show, which takes place in Milan from today, the 4th to the 9th of November.

The Hinckley-based manufacturer is  launching the new Tiger 800 range, which comprises four distinctive new models that complement the family of adventure motorcycles. Fans of the top-selling cruisers, the Thunderbird and Rocket, will also be thrilled at the unveiling of new special editions of these bikes, the Thunderbird Nightstorm and Rocket X.

Tiger 800 Range

The new Tiger 800 is a dynamic Adventure motorcycle with rider-focused technology. The new range includes Triumph Traction Control (TTC) and switchable ABS as standard features across all models, maximising rider confidence and control both on and off-road. Riding off-road or on, the new Tiger’s manners, riding position, handling and responsive engine give the rider an enjoyable ride.

The new Tiger 800 comes in two distinctive guises. The Tiger 800 XR places road riding at the forefront, whilst the Tiger 800 XC is perfect for those looking for the full off-road experience. The two models have high levels of standard equipment in a range that now includes category beating ‘x’ models.  Both the XRx and the XCx bring ride-by-wire technology to the segment, giving the bikes smoother power delivery and lighter throttle response.

The Tiger 800 will be in dealerships in January 2015, with prices starting at £8,499.

Rocket X Limited Edition

To celebrate ten years as the world’s largest-capacity mass production motorcycle, Triumph is launching a limited edition version of its iconic Rocket III.

Originally unveiled in 2004 and the Rocket III has been developed continually ever since. And now, born from the big, bad original model, the limited edition Rocket X offers a great riding experience.

The Rocket X is limited to just 500 units, each with individually numbered side panels and billeted aluminium name badges.

With a 2,294cc three cylinder engine sitting in line with the chassis, the Rocket X is home to the world’s largest production motorcycle engine and delivers extraordinary acceleration in any gear, at any revs.

To complement these credentials, Triumph has ensured the machine’s image lives up to its iconic status. Paint specialists 8 Ball have finished the bikes with a high-gloss custom finish, contrasting the Jet Black paint with “grinded” polish metal strips and Triumph logo.

Thunderbird Nightstorm Special Edition

Based on the successful Thunderbird Storm and powered by the big-bore 1699cc version of Triumph’s acclaimed parallel, the special edition Nightstorm adds a host of stunning, stylish touches to give the bike a moodier, more menacing presence.

The Nightstorm takes the cruiser market to a whole new level, stripping the original Thunderbird of its chrome work and replacing it with edgy, custom hand painted ‘ghost flames’ in a two tone combination of Phantom Black and Silver Frost that provides a distinctive sparkle effect finish.

The ‘back in black’ character continues across the bike, with black handlebars, mirrors, control plates, rear break and gear levers. Contrasting with the black are the specially machined cam bore finishers and the striking ‘Nightstorm’ emblem - giving the bike an indelible, instantly recognisable visage.

But the impressive new features run deeper than the bike’s makeover. The centre piece of the Thunderbird Nightstorm Special Edition is the acclaimed 1699cc parallel-twin cruiser engine. Its  107mm pistons pump out a tyre-shredding 98PS, guaranteeing Thunderbird Nightstorm Special Edition riders an engaging ride.

The Rocket X special edition is priced at £14,799, while the Thunderbird NightStorm will retail at just £13,399. These new models are expected in UK dealerships in Spring 2015.
